The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Monday announced that 311 Islamic State’s (ISIS) militant fighters were killed in the fourth phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation, that was launched on 13 April to liberate the northern countryside of Raqqa.
Also, at least 30 fighters of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces have been killed by ISIS fire since 13 April.
“The fourth phase was aimed to clear the remaining northern countryside and the valley of Jalab from the ISIS and to remove the last obstacles in front of SDF, to prepare for the liberation of the city of Al-Raqqa and the completion of the siege with encirclement of the ISIS gangs,” the SDF leadership said in an official statement on Monday.
“Since the declaration of the fourth phase of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates, our forces have liberated dozens of villages and hamlets, inflicted heavy blows on the enemy and made them suffer dozens of losses,” it said.
“In addition, the northern side of the al-Jalab Valley was cleared of ISIS terrorists and our people in this region were rescued from the atrocity of terrorists and transferred to safe areas.”
Furthermore, the SDF called for more international support for over 20,000 IDPs that have recently escaped ISIS-held Raqqa city.
“At the same time, thousands of civilians have migrated to Rojava [Syrian Kurdistan] due to the intensity of war. The number of migrants has reached 20 thousand during the recent weeks. In this regard, we call on the United Nations, humanitarian aid organizations and democratic forces to provide support for these displaced civilians,” the SDF said.
According to the Syrian Democratic Forces, they also captured 8 ISIS members, and seized ISIS corpses.
SDF also seized a large quantity of ammunition from ISIS during the recent clashes in northern Raqqa, which included 22 Kalashnikov rifles, 4 BKC machine guns, 5 B7 rocket launchers, one 12.5 mm DShK, 2 motorbikes, one Hummer and one pick-up vehicle, 11 hand grenades, one Katyusha rocket launcher, the SDF said.
