Newly single Janet Jackson wants to focus on her career after her recent split from husband Wissam Al Mana, People magazine reported Thursday. The “Nasty” singer split from the Qatari billionaire ending their five years of marriage, just three months after giving birth to their first child, Eissa.

“Janet is the most independent out of all of the Jacksons,” a family friend told People. “She wants to get back on stage, and within the next few years, there’s a possibility she could tour.”
Another source told Entertainment Tonight (ET) that the singer is “back in control” and is working out on ways to amicably co-parent their first child. Last spring, Jackson postponed her “Unbreakable” world tour to focus on starting a family with Al Mana.
“Janet hates mess just like Michael [Jackson] did and would have preferred to keep the split as quiet as possible,” the source added.
Jackson announced the split earlier this month but the duo did not issue a public statement or reveal if they were going to divorce. Jackson, 50, and Al Mana, 42, have not revealed the reason behind the split but ET reported, citing an insider that “she couldn’t stay in the marriage.” The source also said that conflict between Jackson’s family and Al Mana could have led to their split..
Since her split, Jackson has been confiding in her family specifically brother Randy Jackson, with whom she was spotted enjoying a Bruno Mars concert in Birmingham, England, earlier this week. According to TMZ, Jackson tried to keep a low profile during the concert as she sported a ball cap pulled down low to hide her face.
“As the babies of the family, they have an unbreakable bond,” the source told ET. “She trusts him more than anyone.”

Despite the split, Jackson and Al Mana have both been spotted out and were also seen separately, bonding with their 3-month-old son.
“Janet really trusts Wissam and he trusts her,” a Jackson family friend told People Wednesday. “She and Wissam are working together to co-parent. They have a strong friendship. There is no fighting between them.”
Just days after the split, Al Mana shared some loving words on his website about his estranged wife when he updated the site to include a section on love.
“To the most beautiful person in the world, thank you for your divine love, your eternal support and for being my best friend. I love you so much, inshallah we will be together in the Great Forever x” he wrote along with a photo of Jackson.
While it is still unclear why Jackson and Al Mana split, Us Weekly reported culture was one of the biggest problems in their marriage. Jackson and Al Mana started dating in 2010 and got married two years later.
“Wissam wanted a wife who stuck more with the Muslim traditions,” an insider told Us Weekly. “Even before the baby was born, they clashed and butted heads a lot.” According to the report, Jackson wasn’t comfortable with the change she brought to her risqué fashion to adopt the conservative dressing.
“She felt like she couldn’t be herself anymore,” the source said.
