Hooshang Amirahmadi, an Iranian-American scholar, aims to run for next round of presidential election in Iran to be held May 19.
“I am a candidate and hope to register in about two weeks as an official candidate,” Hooshang Amirahmadi told Trend.
Responding to a question about the possible behavior of Iran’s powerful election vetting body, the Guardian Council, towards his nomination, Amirahmadi said he is among the most qualified candidates.
“I am not sure what the Guardian Council is going to think. I am among the most qualified candidates they have and the problems with economy, environment and international relations are most acute. I can certainly help in resolving these and other problems and do have a detailed plan as well”.
Hooshang Amirahmadi is a professor of international development and policy at New Jersey’s Rutgers University and in the meantime he heads the American-Iranian council.
