A recent earthquake in Iran left four people dead in the country’s Khonj city in Fars province, IRNA reported.
The tremors occurred at 6:03 local time (GMT +3:30 hours) Jan.6, according to a report from the seismography center affiliated with Tehran University Geophysics Institute.
Measuring at 5.1 on the Richter scale, quake shook Khonj city. There was no immediate report on possible damage.
All four of the mentioned victims were citizens of foreign countries, said Mokhtar Abbasi, the governor of Khonj County. He didn’t mention the nationalities of the foreigners, Tasnim news agency reported. However, ISNA reported that the victims were Afghani people.
Abbasi said that the quake damage to the property is currently being assessed.
