Israeli forces have shot and killed another Palestinian north of the occupied West Bank, claiming that he was trying to carry out a stabbing attack against them.
The young Palestinian was shot dead in the town of Hawarah, south of Nablus, on Wednesday.
In recent months, Israeli forces have shot and killed a large number of Palestinians across the occupied territories, all on the accusation that they either carried out or attempted to carry out attacks against Israelis.
International rights groups have criticized the regime for its policy of shoot-to-kill, which they say has led to numerous deaths among the alleged assailants.
In another development, Israeli troops arrested some 15 Palestinians, including two members of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, during raids on a number of houses across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses in the West Bank, detaining residents and transferring them to prisons, where they are kept in so-called “administrative detention” without any charges brought against them.
The United Nations says the Israeli army carried out 178 detention raids across the occupied territory from October 4 to 17.
According to the prisoners’ rights group Addameer, there are currently 7,000 Palestinians held at Israeli jails and detention centers, including seven lawmakers.
The occupied territories have been the scene of heightened tensions since August 2015, when Tel Aviv imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds.
Almost 250 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in what is regarded as the third Palestinian Intifada since October 2015.
