As the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Princess Haya bint Al Hussein continues to stand up for her beliefs as a humanitarian and a mother of two.
In a recent interview with Newsweek Middle East, Princess Haya spoke extensively about her efforts to help people across the globe, working tirelessly for important causes, even as she slips into her role as a doting mother and a supportive wife.
Princess Haya highlighted the support of Sheikh Mohammed has helped fulfil her mission, who recently directed her to charter his private plane and airlift 90 metric tons of humanitarian aid and relief items to the Haitian Capital Port-au-Prince, which was hit by Hurricane Mathew.
Calling her husband ‘a friend’, and a ‘great mentor’, Princess Haya called Sheikh Mohammed an advocate for humanitarian aid, adding that she doesn’t make a move in her work without his guidance.
Talking further, Princess Haya lauded Sheikh Mohammed’s work ethics, revealing that he never clocks off from work, but sets out to achieve his goal.
In the interview, Princess Haya also credited her father, the late King Hussein of Jordan’s upbringing, who she credited for teaching her to work hard and serve a ‘higher cause’.
Despite taking on such responsibilities, Princess Haya stated her priority as a mother to her two children, Sheikha Al Jalila, 9 and Sheikh Zayed, 4, is never set aside.
