A Jet Airways flight from Delhi to Doha was diverted to Karachi on Tuesday due to a medical emergency on board. However, the passenger died when the flight arrived in Karachi.
Flight 9W 202 had taken off from Delhi with 141 passengers on board. About an hour into the flight, a passenger developed a “medical condition” and the captain decided to land at the nearest airport which happened to be Karachi, said a Jet Airways official. Details about the passenger could not be ascertained.
“However, the passenger did not survive. After completing requirements as per public health rules, Jet Airway’s Boeing 737 took off for Delhi from Karachi at 9.30am on Tuesday,” said a senior DGCA official.
The airline expressed its “heartfelt condolences” to the bereaved family.
“The airline is planning re-accommodation on alternate flights for the rest of guests who missed their connections due to this unfortunate development,” said an airline official.
