Russia’s Gazprom supports an oil production freeze, according to the energy giant’s deputy chief executive officer on Monday.
Speaking at the World Energy Congress, of which Anadolu Agency is the global communication partner for 2016, Alexander Medvedev said that both oil and gas producers wanted to stabilize the energy market.
Earlier on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia supported the decision to limit or freeze oil production.
Medvedev also cited the significance of natural gas worldwide in the midst of a transformation of the global energy trend.
“Natural gas will have a big role in this transformation and may have a role in decreasing global warming,” he said.
“Natural gas is the cleanest and most harmless fossil fuel,” he added.
