Qatar’s national university has jumped 88 places in an international ranking of top varsities around the world.
Qatar University (QU) is now 393rd in the latest edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, which came out this week.
QU also placed ninth out of the top 100 higher education institutions in the Arab world.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals took the top spot in the regional rankings and came in at 189th place in the worldwide list.
Rapidly rising
Last year, QU debuted on the list in the 481-490 range, meaning it has since jumped 88 places, said Ashwin Fernandes, QS regional director.
“(This) makes it one of the fastest rising universities in the region,” he added in a statement.
The university also placed in the top 10 for international faculty and came in 21st in QS’s list for international students.
A total of 916 universities were included in the 13th edition of the rankings.
