“This is a very important issue for Iran and Iranian gas will likely be pumped to Azerbaijan’s underground reservoirs,” said Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for international affairs Amir-Hossein Zamaniniya in his interview with Trend.
“Azerbaijan has two gas reservoirs, including Garadagh and Galmaz with a capacity of up to 5bn cubic meters of gas,” he said.
Managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hamidreza Araki told media outlets last month that a private Iranian company offered to store natural gas in underground reservoirs of Azerbaijan. Araki noted that the same company is negotiating with Azerbaijan and that the project is a subject of discussion between the governments of the two countries.
