Recently,  Atlantico published Roman Lombardi’s article about Saudi Arabia.  In his article, the author predicts the collapse of Saudi Arabia and the chaos in the country, and according to the author, the main reason for this will be the unemployment that exists in the country. We asked this question to Theodore Karasik, Senior Advisor to Gulf State Analytics in Washington DC

How do you think, is it all that catastrophic in Saudi Arabia or is the author yet exaggerating?

There is concern in the region that Saudi Arabia is already in a slow moving implosion. Six months ago the warnings and indicators for implosion were apparent- Economic troubles, wars, infighting and most of all the presense of  Daesh in the Kingdom. But with the National Transformation Program now approved and internal security tightening, the Kingdom may have stepped back from the brink for now.  We all need to support the NTP and the Saudi Vision 2030 as there is no alternative.  King Salman and his ambitious son MBS are seeking to create the 4th Saudi state and a new social contract with the Kingdom’s subjects.

Failure to support MBS and the Saudis or bureaucratic inertia at the regional level or clerical intervention will spell big trouble for the Kingdom, the region, and ultimately the world.
