Some 600 journalists have been arrested in Iran since the controversial 2009 presidential election, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has revealed.
Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency quoted Javad Karimi Qoddousi saying that some of the media was trying to depict the parliament as two opposite sides.
Following the presidential elections in 2009, Iran witnessed mass protests, the largest since the 1979 Iranian revolution. Thousands of demonstrators were arrested at the time.
